PILGRIMAGES - AMRITSAR

       Amritsar was founded by Guru Ram Das the fourth Guru of the Sikhs in 1579.It has historical and religious importance and is situated in state of Punjab.It is the holy place of the Sikhs. It is about 450 km north of Delhi.The Golden Temple here is world famous. Amritsar, from point of view of tourists, is famous for Pashmina - a soft fleece of Himalayan goat.

        Amritsar Gurupurab is basically the birthdate of the Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. During this festival, Sikhs turn out an masse at their Gurdwaras (temples) and everyone eats at a massive communal meal known as the 'Langar'.
