The capital
city of Bihar, Patna, is a historical city which has experienced
the trauma and pain of being conquered. The heritage of Patna dates
back to two millennia.
This
city was ruled by many a rulers each of which gave the city a different
name. Thus, Patna evolved after Kusumpura, Pushpapura, Patliputra
and Azeemabad.
Pataliputra
was the capital of Magadha, a kingdom which dominated and influenced
the politics of India for a long time. Located at on the banks where
river Sone and Ganga confluence, this city has witnessed the rules
of Chanakya, Chandragupta, Ashoka and the Nanda rulers.
Though
not many monuments are left to tell the saga of the glorious past,
Patna has carved out an image of its own. In the modern times Patna
has become a city of hectic political activities and it would not
be wrong if it is called a place of demonstration, strikes and rallies.
