The main things to buy here are the silk, crepe and chiffon fabrics (80% of India's silk is from Karnataka). Bidriwork is the most interesting thing one can buy. Sandalwood and rosewood work from Mysore are also popular, as are the incense and perfumes from Bangalore and Mysore.

The ethnic jewellery from Mangalore and Karwar are very beautiful, worth buying. Plush woolen carpets and durries are woven in Tumkur and Dharwar and are beautiful and not very expensive either. Another important handicraft of Karnataka is the lacquerware, mostly done in Bangalore, and the ceramics and clayware from Belgaum.
