Alandi :
The association of the incredible Saint Dnyaneshwar halos Alandi, a township on the bank of Indrayani river, also called as "Devachi Alandi". Teen-ager Dnyaneshwar the author of Dnyaneshwari lived and attained samadhi in Alandi at a tender age of twenty-one. In Alandi two melas are held annually; on Ashadhi and Kartiki Ekadashi, Eleventh days of Ashadh and Kartik, Hindu Months.
Notable Places :
The sacred samadhi of Saint Dnyaneshwar, Siddhabet in Indrayani and Temple of Vithoba-Rakhumai. 
Getting There :
Pune-Alandi is just 21 Kms.ST buses from Swargate and Shivajinagar Pune to Alandi.
Where to stay :
Number of Dharmashalas at Alandi, offer open-sided shelter to the pilgrims and travelers.

 Ashta-Vinayaka :
"Ashta " means eight & " Vinayaka " is another name of Lord Ganesh, the God loved and worshiped by every Hindu. Lord Ganesh is the protector of his devotees. Eight effigies found among the nature, sculptured by nature have been housed in the temples created ages ago at the places where the effigies were first identified. These 'Swayambhu' effigies include the Ganesh idols at Morgaon ,Ranjangaon ,Lenyadri ,Ojhar ,Theur ,Mahad,Pali ,Saddhatek.The sacred idols, make up the  famous "Ashta Vinayak" .All the eight places are located within the range of 20 to 110 kms.
Getting There :
Special ST buses ply between Pune & Mumbai to these Ashta Vinayak Temples.Private tours are also organised to these temples.
Accommodation :
Dharmashala, Lodges and M.T.D.C. resorts are available at almost all the places for visitors to reside

Bhimashankar :
A pilgrim centre of great significance ,it houses one of the 5 Jyotirlinga's.The climate at Bhimashankar is generally quite pleasant with natural scenary.During the months of Feb-March the annual "Mahashivratri "attracts huge number of pilgrims from all over the country.
Getting there : By Air the nearest airport is Pune.By Train : The nearest railway station is Pune.By Road : Bhimashankar is connected to all major cities,towns of Mharashtra,Bhimashankar Mumbai is approximately 265 kms. 

Dehu :
Dehu is an age-old town on the river Indrayani. Famous Poet-Saint Tukaram was born and brought up in Dehu. Abhang Gatha, his eternal creation has a proud place in Marathi literature. According to a legend, the adversaries of the saint poet mercilessly sank his entire collection of Abhangas in the river, but low and behold, to their surprise, the Gatha surfaced and was saved.
Getting There :
Pune -Dehu road is just 24 Kms. Frequent PCM, PCMT and ST buses frequent between Pune & dehu.
Accommodation : There are many Rest Houses,Daharamashalas & few private hotels available.
What to See :
Old temples of Shiva and Vishnu, Tukaram Vrindavan, The birth place of Saint Tukaram, Gopalpura, Indrayani Doh, Bhandara Hill, Bham-Chandra Dongar.

Jejuri :
Jejuri is a well-known pilgrim center near Pune
. Khandoba of Jejuri, is a family deity of many Maharashtrians. Around 40,000 believers participate in Jatra, the annual fair, held during November.Pune -Jejuri is approximately 38 Kms.
Accommodation : Few rest houses & lodgings are present in & around Jejuri hill.

Mahalaxmi Temple :
Three hundred & ninety -five kilometres south of Mumbai is Kolhapur,one of the most important places of Hindu pilgrimage.Kolhapur has many temples of which the 9th century Mahalaxmi temple is the most reverred ,other important temples in & around the vicinity are The Kotiteerth temple dedicated to Lord Mahadeva,The Jyotiba's temple .Getting there :Kolhapur is connected by road ,rail & air to all major cities in Maharashtra .State transport buses as well as many private luxury buses especially from Mumbai ,Pune ,Sangli ,Satara are there for Kolhapur.

There are many luxurious as well as modest hotels in Kolhapur.

Narsinhwadi :
 
Popularly knowa as Narsobachi Wadi.The place is situated at the confluence of rivers Krishna & PanchGanga.Shri Dattatreya ,in his incarnation knowa as Narsinh Saraswati lived here for twelve years.Instead of any idol Shri Dattatreya's existence is symbolised by his " padukas ",symbolising his permanent existence at this place.
Getting there :
The nearest big city is Kolhapur,Pune is about 261 kms.
Accommodation :
There are very few lodging places around here,however there are few Dharmashals,also few rest houses.  

Pandharpur :
Pandharpur is Maharashtra's spiritual capital on the banks of the Chandrabhaga.During the festive months of July & October-November people from all over Maharashtra,Karnataka,Andhra Pradesh & other states gather at famous temple of Lord Vithal at Pandharpur.There are also many other temples to visit such as  The Laxmi Temple,Pundalik Temple,Vishnupad Temple,Trimbhakeshwar Temple,Shri Ram Temple. Nearby is Tuljapur which is known for its temple of Tulja Bhavani( Goddess Durga).The great Maratha ruler always took her blessings for his success in military expeditions.

By Road :
Mumbai -Pandharpur is approx 386 kms,Pune - Phandarpur is 204 kms .State transport buses ply from Pune ,Sholapur ,Nanded ,Satara ,Ahmednagar to Pandharpur.

MTDC cottages are available as also many private hotels. 

Parali Vaijnath :
Swayanbu & Jagritsthan of Lord Vaijnath
,the place is one of the twelve "Jyotirlingas" in India.The temple was in shackles when Ahilyabai Holkar renovated the temple.An imposing & majestic temple on a hill ,the Sabhamandap & the Garbhagriha are on the same level which one rarely comes across in a Shiva Mandir.Other nearby relegious temples include Someshwar temple,Ambajogai which has Shri Yogeshwari Devi temple.
Getting there :
Distances from important places are as mentioned Nanded 120 kms,Aurangabad 230 kms,Pune 300kms.Public & private buses ply from thes places to ParaliVaijnath.Accommodation :The place has few Dharmashalas,rest houses & few hotels.

Saptasring Gad :
The place has the most sacred seat of Saptasringi Devi embodying MahaSaraswati ,MahaLaxmi & MahaKali.Temple is situated at an height of 1415 meteres with fascinating surroundings.The place has many ancient temples & thirtas as also the Machhindranath Mandir & the Markendeya's Rishis seat at a nearby hill.
Getting there : The nearest place is Nashik which is 70 kms,while Mumbai is 252 kms.
Accomodations : Many Dharamashalas,Rest Houses & few hotels are available.

Shani-Shingnapur :
A holy place of Shri Shanidev is a widely known pilgrimage centre.The speciality of this place is that there is neither any image of any specific deity nor any particular idolonly a stone pillar which is supposed to embody the image is worshipped with deep respect & reverence.There is a belief in this region that anyone who tries to steal here becomes blind hence many of the houses round here especially old ones dont have doors.

The nearest big city is Nashik.

As the place lies in the interiors there are fee lodging hotels available.

Shegaon :
This place falls in the Nagpur zone,is counted amongst one of the most sacred places in Maharashtra." Gan Gan Ganath Bote " is the mantra one can find written on many temple walls ,enchanted by Bhavikas(followers) of saint Shree Gajanan Maharaj.The Gajanan Maharaj temple is the main centre of attraction & people from all over Maharashtra & even neighbouring states throng these place to pay homage to this saint.The speciality of the Mandir is that to each & every person visiting the mandir is given "Bhakri & Jhunka" a typical Maharashtrian food as prasad.Shegaon ,though a relative small place has a very good park & even an Engineering College which is run by the Shegaon Mandir Prathisthan people .

By Rail :Shegaon has a railway station & falls on the Mumbai-Calcutta route.
By Road : Shegaon is connected to all to all important places & daily buses ply from Mumbai , Pune, Akola ,Amravati  tom Shegaon.Accommodation : One would find a number of lodging & boarding places located mainly in & around the temple.  

Shirdi :
A small village in Ahmedanagar district Shirdi ,has acquired a lot of fame & followers for Sant Shree Sai Baba.Sai Baba attained samadhi on Dassera day in 1918.Sai Baba preached at Shirdi all his life & renewned people's faith in God.Devotees from every faith throng here all year round to pay their respects to his memory.Khandoba Mandir,Samadhi of Shree Sai Baba,Dwarkamai mosque,Mhasoba temple all these places are within a periphery of 1km & can be covered on foot.

Titwala has become a popular pilgrimage spot not only because of Lord Ganesha but also because of its easy accessiblity as it situated very near to Mumbai.The Lord Ganesh & Shri Vithoba Temples are situated here.

Trimbakeshwar :
Trimbakeshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India.The river Godavari has its source here on the Bramhagiri hill.A holy dip in the Kushavarta Tirth & you are ready to worship Trimbakeshwar Mahadeva.Surrounding places to visit are Gangadwar :A sacred spot where river Godavari makes its first appearence on the Brahmagiri hill.Goraknath Gupha :Guru Gorakhnath is said to have undergone penance here.
