Marina
Beach (Chennai)
The pride of Madras City, the Marina beach is one of the world's longest beaches, running 12 km in length. With it's natural sandy beauty and spacious promenade, the beach continues to be the most sought-after rezendvous of many. It has acquired a South Indian aura with vendors hawking wares ranging from shell and glass baubles to kites and fruit juices. The Marina, however, is large enough to accommodate all visitors as well as the hawkers and is often the venue for important state functions. Elliot's Beach(Chennai) The Elliot's beach near Besant Nagar offers an alternative to the Marina for beach-lovers who would prefer to avoid crowds and hawkers. Covelong(Chennai) A picturesque fishing village on the way to Mahabalipuram, Covelong was originally a port built by Sadat Ali, the Nawab of Carnatic. The remains of a fort have now been converted into a luxury beach resort, which offers facilities for windsurfing and swimming. An ancient Catholic Church, a mosque and the Fort make interesting viewing in this 5-star hotel. |
